I am Cas Heilman and this summer I will be attempting a lifelong dream of mine, to climb Mt. Rainier.  In my training to attempt this feat it became quite clear to me that I needed some extra motivation. 

Motivation was found very quickly after seeing my grandfather die of cancer this winter.  It became very clear to me that I am sick and tired of standing by and watching my friends and family die of this disease!  Now is the time for me to do something about it! 

All of us have known someone that has battled cancer.  Some of those battles have ended in victory, others have not been as fortunate.  This is an opportunity for you to help me put a stop to those battles.

I chose the Jimmy V Foundation for Cancer Research for many reasons.  One of which includes my love of sports and Jimmy Valvano's emotional and motivating presence.  However the most important reason I chose the Jimmy V Foundation is because 100 PERCENT of your donation goes straight to cancer research.  The Foundation's administration costs have been completely endowed.

My goal is to raise $1.00 for every foot of Mt. Rainier's 14,411 ft. elevation ($14,411).  Whatever you feel comfortable giving please do so with confidence that you are giving to an organization that will use every last penny to help ensure that funerals for loved ones who have died of cancer become a only memory. 

For those gracious enough to donate $0.01 per foot ($144.11, or more!) I would be honored to carry a picture of someone you love in memory of, or in celebration of their fight and survival of cancer, all the way to the summit.
